Candidate Services

With the exception of our "Entrepreneur in Residence" program, we generally do not market candidates directly to companies but work on behalf of companies to find candidates that meet their exact requirements. However, there are some candidates, whose track records are so accomplished, that we will present them to a variety of VCs, CEOs, and private equity firms to gage interest even though an immediate opportunity is unknown. This is done on an "exception basis" only.

Upon launching a new search, we first mine our internal database for candidates. The search is based on key words in resumes (e.g. software, sales, telecom, Oracle, etc.) that match the position requirements. If we think you are a match for a specific position, we will email you to ask permission to present you to the client.

Our next step in the process is to send out an email through our network asking for referrals. This is a great way for us to generate new candidates and also to make sure that we did not overlook any candidates in our database. Our basic service for candidates is free. In return, we only ask for referrals.

Each of our positions has interview questions developed specifically for that position. We place executives primarily into positions for sales, marketing, business development, finance, operations, and technology. We only do C-Level, VP, and Director positions at fast growth tech companies.

Resumes that highlight prior company information (even for a former Fortune 500 employer) always get a better response. Just a line or two about annual sales, number of employees, elevator pitch, etc. for each employer can make a big difference in your ability to be recognized as a potential candidate when we run a database search for key words on a resume. Also, it is always helpful to have approximately 3-6 specific accomplishments listed for the first three positions listed on the resume (accomplishments that include specific numbers, dates, names of clients, etc. always get more attention). We recommend that you indicate what the company's revenues were when you started compared to when you left.

If you are interested in submitting your personal information into our database, please contact us at executives@matchstar.com.
